You know I don’t pass up a chance to answer this question Mike!
Why I chose my career:
After writing resumes and cover letters for more than 15 years on a volunteer basis, I decided to turn this talent into a career through which I could build a better life for myself while also helping others. I left the corporate world a year ago to go out on my own. I wanted to provide a cost-effective alternative to the resume mills that mass-produce cookie cutter resumes that do not actually help jobseekers. I also wanted to “pay it forward” by providing pro bono career services to people in transition. Now that I know the joy of a career that I love, I do my best to help my clients find rewarding careers, rather than just jobs that pay the bills.
Going out on my own was the best decision I have ever made. I may earn less money, but I now smile every day! I have met so many wonderful people, and enjoy the fact that I am helping to improve the world around me.
